Child poverty rates in London are among the highest in the country. Our Action Plan, presents a series of policy and practical changes that are needed to change this .
These are focused on five key areas:
Child poverty in London is not inevitable. It is the result of choices and it can be reduced through different choices. The scale of the challenge demands urgency, ambition and sustained political will at every level of government, alongside deep partnership with children and young people, families and the organisations that support them.
With the publication of the Government’s Child Poverty Strategy, there is now a critical window to turn commitment into action and ensure that national, regional and local plans work together to deliver real change in children’s lives. This must be backed by investment, accountability, and a clear focus on outcomes for children and families.
At the heart of this effort must be the voices and lived experience of those affected by poverty. If we listen to them, act on the evidence, and match ambition with action, London can become a child poverty free city.
